North Carolina hits bet365 with $75k fine over self-exclusion errors

Underdog let 38 underage accounts open before quitting North Carolina sports betting.

The hit

The North Carolina State Lottery Commission fined two sportsbooks this week for responsible gaming failures, one of which is no longer offering sports betting in the state. Underdog was fined $175,000 for letting underage customers open accounts, while bet365 was fined $75,000 for sending promotions to self-excluded users, according to the commission.

Why it matters

Both operators self-reported the failures & cooperated with the investigation, but the fines show regulators still punishing lapses even after a company exits the market. Underdog remains on the hook for violations from before it quit sports betting in the state.
